In a joint effort, Aptos Labs and Jump Crypto have officially released Shelby, a high-performance, decentralized hot storage network designed for Web3 real-time applications, covering scenarios such as streaming media, AI data, social platforms, and DePIN.
Shelby achieves cloud-like read/write speeds and reliability through global high-performance nodes, fiber backbone, and on-chain programmable architecture, breaking the centralization and performance bottlenecks of traditional Web2 services. It features sub-second response times, pay-as-you-go billing, Token access control, DRM, smart contract permission control, and dynamic pricing capabilities.
Projects like Metaplex, Story Protocol, Pipe Network, among others, will be the first to integrate with Shelby. NBCUniversal also plans to adopt Shelby in streaming media scenarios, further validating its potential as a cross-chain real-time infrastructure.
The Shelby developer testnet (Devnet) is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025, supporting multiple chain ecosystems such as Aptos, Ethereum, Solana, and more.
