According to official sources, Babylon Genesis Chain will adopt the EVM and CosmWasm dual virtual machine model: CosmWasm (already live on the mainnet) is used to develop secure, high-performance smart contracts for Bitcoin. Wasm smart contracts are written in Rust, a language fully compatible with Bitcoin's core library. EVM (to be added) boasts a rich array of DeFi products, a large user base, and a strong developer community. The promotion of EVM on the Genesis Chain is currently underway, with the development network already online. Once the testnet is launched, public testnet endpoints will follow suit. The official statement indicates that the EVM integration plan is set to go live on the mainnet from the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2025.
