Coinbase executive Conor Grogan posted on social media that the recent transfer of $8 billion worth of BTC by a 'dormant 14-year-old Bitcoin ancient whale' may involve a possible private key theft or leak. Before the massive transfer of BTC assets from the whale wallet, one of the wallets conducted a test transaction in Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and immediately transferred out all BCH. Conor noted this unusual pattern of behavior, as other BCH wallets were not touched and BCH whales are typically less monitored by surveillance services, suggesting a discreet way to test private keys. He speculated that these wallets are unlikely to belong to an exchange. While Conor's observations are speculative, if true, this could be one of the largest digital asset theft cases in human history.
