According to The Fintech Times, Spain's second-largest bank BBVA has launched bitcoin and ethereum trading and custody services for retail customers through its mobile app, expanding its regulated digital asset services in Europe. The service was launched after submitting regulatory filings to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) in March 2025 and is now open to all customers of legal age. Customers can buy, sell, and hold crypto assets within BBVA's existing digital banking environment. The bank has fully integrated the service into its own app, without relying on any third-party platforms or custodians. Customers can initiate transactions independently, as the bank does not provide investment advice.
