According to sources cited by the Financial Times, EU negotiators are set to reach a trade agreement with US President Trump, confirming that the EU will face tariffs higher than those enjoyed by the UK. Brussels is reportedly preparing to sign an interim 'framework' agreement, stipulating that during ongoing negotiations, the 'equivalent' tariff imposed by the US will be 10%, equivalent to the baseline tariff imposed on the UK. However, six diplomats familiar with the situation have indicated that the EU is not expected to gain the same level of market access to the US as UK steel, automotive, and other industry-affected products. Additionally, Trump is also demanding a 17% tariff on EU agricultural products. One diplomat stated, 'The UK's agreement is better than this. Considering how long we have been negotiating, this is surprising.'
