The U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released a statement banning cryptocurrency derivatives for retail investors after deliberating on the issue over the past year. The ban will begin on January 6, 2021. The FCA finds the derivatives dangerous, inconsistent, and misunderstood by retail investors.

While the FCA predicts that the decision will lead to millions of euros saved by retail consumers, they also warn investors about the increased potential for scams continuing to offer the banned derivatives.
