The U.S. Department of Justice issued new recommendations for Section 230 on June 17, where the nation’s top legal authority stated its intention to realign the scope of the law set to offer immunity to online platforms from civil liability.

“Reform is important now more than ever,” per the announcement. With more young people engaged in daily internet activities and a growing number of online crimes, DOJ wants to give more stimulus to online channels to deal with illicit materials. 

Last month, after Twitter officially questioned into the reliability of his tweets, U.S. President Donald Trump implemented an executive order which tightens requirement on major social media channels.
