Blockchain firm Kadena has launched a new open-source app to help medical professionals and patients securely store and share COVID-19 test results, according to an announcement on Thursday, June 25.

The company plans to use QR codes to track test kits from their manufacturers to medical professionals to ensure they are not swapped out for fake tests. Patients can also keep a picture of the QR code and access their results any time using the Kadena app.

The company is still working to ensure that the app is following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
