Andong, a city in the Gyeongbuk province of South Korea will begin operating a free trade zone for industrial hemp and regulate the area using a blockchain platform, as reported by local outlet Newspin

Gyeongbuk’s governor, Lee Chul-woo, announced that the city had been granted a permit allowing a special industrial hemp free zone. In South Korea, industrial hemp farming is allowed in specific areas.

Once these regions are launced, operations will be handled using a blockchain platform including line tracking and classifying products.

The hemp zones plan to utilize smart farming and high-tech bio industry methods.
