A July 8 report by Caixin shows that the Chinese government is partnering with several of the country’s top companies to explore real-world adoption of a central bank-backed digital currency (CBDC), among which are Apple-backed mobile transportation platform Didi Chuxing, video sharing website Bilibili (aka B Site), group buying website Meituan-Dianping. Bisides, Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok, is also reportedly discussing with the central bank the potential of a partnership.
