Convicted Hackers stash of cryptocurrency auctioned off to raise almost $300,000 for police in the U.K., according to CNBC.

The assets taken from the hacker included bitcoin, ripple and ether. These assets were then auctioned off by the U.K.’s Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU).

In the British police force’s first ever recorded auctioning of cryptocurrency as part of an asset recovery order, The assets went for an impressive £240,000 ($295,150) at Wilson’s auctions on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

While this may seem to be a huge gain for the police force the auction house had the assets valued at £500,000 ($612,345).
