The Polkadot community will vote on redominating the Planck — the smallest unit of the network's native token DOT — which could lead to an increase in DOT supply.

Announced in a blog post by Gavin Wood — co-founder and president of Web3 Foundation — on Monday, July 13 the vote will be the protocol's first community vote and any person who holds DOT will be able to participate.

Voters will be able to choose between redenomination based on increasing supply by 10, 100, 1,000 or not at all. If passed and DOT's supply increases it is likely that the token's price will drop from its current level at $152. The poll is open now and will be available for two weeks.
