In a recent report from the Canadian Chamber of Digital Commerce shows that the country is well positioned to be a global leader as their digital economy advances, according to a report from Betakit.
The report is considered the first quantitative study of Canada’s blossoming blockchain ecosystem. The study I based on 200 respondents and interviews with industry and Government officials. The report breaks down Canada’s blockchain industry by region, sector, and company size.
Executive Chairman of the Blockchain Research institute Don Tapscott says in a press release, “Canada is well positioned to be a global leader as the digital economy advances, with clusters of blockchain expertise running from the Yukon to Nova Scotia, and centers of blockchain excellence forming around Canada’s industries.”
However, Canada faces an issue with scaling. The blockchain industry is growing at a fast rate so Canada must find ways to fund, regulate the environment, provide public educations and barriers for banking and auditing services. Much like how Silicon Valley boomed in the United States Canada is facing similar issues with blockchains. The industry is just growing faster than government can keep up with.
