Japanese bank Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is planning to launch its own stablecoin by the end of 2020, as reported by local media outlet Mainichi

The MUFG token will match 1:1 with the Japanese yen. The project was first announced back in 2015, but has faced numerous delays. On Monday, July 13 president and CEO at MUFG, Hironori Kamezawa, said that mobile retail payments using the bank's digital currency will also be available to clients.

These payments through a partnership with The Recruit Group. Already 1 million Recruit stores have signed on for the project.
