Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, stated in the Off The Chain podcast that XRP was the superior coin to Bitcoin in a series of answers to questions asked by Twitter.

Garlinghouse remarked that the developers of XRP were made up of a team of "early Bitcoin engineers" who were seeking to address the scaling issues that proof-of-work models were dealing with and "build a better Bitcoin." Garlinghouse asserted that despite being one of Bitcoin's early adopters he doesn't believe that Bitcoin is going to solve payment problems.
