Australian debit card network Eftpos is using a digital stablecoin built on Hedera Hashgraph to trial micropayments system, as reported by Coindesk.

The project is testing micropayments models including pay-per-page or watch-per-second streaming. If the project is successful, Eftpos will likely start looking into distributed ledger technology to support an overhaul of payments structures. 

Eftpos's debit card payments system recorded more than 2 billion transactions in 2019. Hedera's native coin HBAR is currently trading at $0.04.
