In an attempt to combat the looming threat of cryptocurrencies and obtain more information on how people spend their money, the Bank of Canada is considering launching their own virtual currency.

In a presentation prepared for Governor Stephen Poloz the bank outlined their plans for the coin. The current plan for the token would be making the digital currency widely available. This coin would start off coexisting with their fiat currency, then eventually replace it.
