Former programmer, startup founder and entrepreneur Edward David Burt, also known as Bermuda premier, believes that cryptocurrencies will be the great equalizer against big tech, according to an interview with Forbes.

Burt stated in his interview that he feels cryptocurrencies will help free consumers from their dependency on large corporations and government. Burt placed a large emphasis on how cryptocurrency can restructure the current monopoly on the tech landscape.

“Facebook and Google make money because they have your data, but they don't pay for access to your data. However, when you talk about the ability to have infinitesimally-sized pieces of value so someone can pay you for using your data ... the promise of cryptocurrency is to actually take power away from those large companies.”

Burt also made it clear that he doesn’t trust Facebook and feels that the pushback Libra has received is due to a culture of fear and the only way to move forward is for governments to engage instead of push away.
