Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Heath Tarbert said that a large part of our financial system could soon exist on a blockchain in a recent interview with Coindesk

Tarbert has held his position at the CFTC for a little over a year and has taken substantial steps to learn about the crypto world. He highlighted the growth of LabCFTC, which focuses on fintech, into its own wing within the agency during his tenure.

The CFTC is setting its sights on creating a regulatory framework for crypto products, which it plans to release by the end of 2024. Tarbert recently published a paper advocating for a flexible fintech policy which will likley influence the framework's creation.
