One of the leading providers of temperature assurance packaging for distributing pharmaceuticals, Sonoco, is building a new blockchain-based platform to be used by pharmaceutical manufacturers and carriers, according to a recent announcement.

The platform — named PharmaPortal — is built using IBM's Blockchain Transparent Supply technology and will help industry leaders trace supplies across supply chains to allow temperature-controlled drugs to be traced and quality controlled.

IBM Blockchain Transparent Supply tickets itself as the next way to share data across supply chain providers.
