Russia plans to use artificial intelligence to track cryptocurrency transactions, as reported by local media outlet RBC.

RBC claims to have obtained a copy of a letter to Parshin Maxim Viktorovich, Deputy Minister of Russia’s Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media describing a federal plan for monitoring crypto transactions.

The AI system prototype has already been created and is in testing phases. The system is designed to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crimes.

The development of a Russian crypto monitoring system comes after a new law was passed in the nation providing cryptocurrencies legal status, but preventing their use as a payment method.
