The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced on August 17 that Hester M. Peirce—also known as “crypto mom” by the community—has been sworn into office as SEC commissioner. Hester M. Peirce was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 6, 2020.

“As a commissioner, Hester has been a tremendous advocate for our markets and investors”, said SEC Chairman Jay Clayton, “and I know she will continue to be a strong voice for them in years to come.”

Peirce first was sworn in as a commissioner in 2018, focusing on innovation in financial services. Her term will expire on June 5, 2025.
