Mining facility operator Enegix will soon open a new 180 megawatt data center to mining pools in Kazakhstan this September, as reported by Coindesk.

The center will be located near the Russian border in Ekibastuz with the capacity to host up to 50,000 mining rigs. At full capacity with leading mining equipment that many rigs could represent 5-6 EH/s, which is 4% of Bitcoin's current hashrate.

The center will be powered by the Kazakhstan grid, which uses a coal-fired station in Russia, and will employ over 160 people as engineers, security and electricians. Kazakhstan is well positioned to become a global mining center given the country's access to cheap electricity and supportive government.
