On Thursday a bill to make Facebook’s cryptocurrency Libra a security was introduced by a team of bipartisan senators, according CNBC.

At the committee hearing on the role of big data in financial services, Reps. Sylvia Garcia, D-Tex., and Lance Gooden, R-Tex., proposed the “Managed Stablecoins are Securities Act of 2019.” This bill will lead to higher levels of regulation and scrutiny on the project, which Facebook has asserted is a digital payments system.
