China Construction Bank opened a public wallet service for China's digital yuan which was available to clients through the bank's mobile app, but the feature disappeared after gaining widespread attention, as reported by CoinDesk.

App users could activate the service by registering with a mobile phone number linked to their bank account. Several users were even able to carry out small transactions using the app.

The feature is no longer available and when searched for on the app a message stating that it is not yet ready for public use is displayed. All four of the large state-owned banks are working on their own crypto wallet projects and running internal testing.
