Eset, the Slovakian software security firm, had discovered that the hackers behind the Stantinko botnet have been circulating a Monero cryptocurrency mining module via Youtube.

The cryptocurrency stealing malware has been active since at least 2012 and mainly targets users from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Stantinko botnet utilizes YouTube channels to circulate its cryptojacking module, which mines the privacy-focused crypto coin Monero on the CPUs of unwary victims.
