Guo Hongcai, known as Chandler Guo, graduated from high school, worked as a Beijing drifter, audited at Tsinghua University, sold CDs and beef, entered the cryptocurrency field in 2013, achieved financial freedom within five years, and bought a 100-acre mansion in the United States in 2018. He's living a luxe life where his daily routine revolves around growing flowers, making wine, and growing vegetables. Some people say that he is a "cancer in the cryptocurrency field", others call him a "grass-roots idol", no matter what people think about him, what is rational is actual and what is actual is rational.

Chandler Guo said on Weibo: never forget the original ideal and ambition—for money.

His Financial Wisdom Shows At An Early Age

"I didn't get admitted to Tsinghua University, but I audited for four years and didn't pay my tuition!"

In 2003, Guo Hongcai took the college entrance examination in Shanxi, and named Tsinghua University as his first choice. He knew his garde was not good enough. So, he rent a house near Tsinghua University, auditing the courses while figuring out how to make money.

While others his age were filled with excitement and hesitation during their first year in university, Chandler Guo found opportunity in the popular Shuimu BBS Forum. He copied audio and video materials from the forum into CD-ROMs and sold them. It is said that he earned more than 10,000 yuan a month on this, vastly out-earning his peers whose salary was only 4,000 to 5,000 yuan. He later became the campus general agent of Tsinghua Internet telephony and sold Internet telephones in the school, which became another source of income. Chandler Guo's college years did not cost him money, instead, he made a lot of money!

Run Into A Lifelong Partner

His mind is full of ideas.

"Mrs. Guo" Jin Yangyang once said in an interview that she felt that he had a kind of free wandering handsomeness: "He said to me at that time, ‘I want to hold your hand and go on for the rest of my life’. I got rid of his hand, but his words were deeply imprinted on my mind. "

In 2006, Chandler Guo and Jin Yangyang met during a ride on the Sichuan-Tibet line. Jin Yangyang was attracted by his intelligence and cheerful personality, and then they went to Lijiang (a city in the northwest part of China's southern Yunnan province) together. After Yangyang returned to her hometown in Sichuan, he paid a sudden visit one day and told her father that he was Yangyang's boyfriend with a confident demeanor. The couple was soon married and stayed together for 14 years.

Chance encounters defined Guo Hongcai's life. In his personal life the serendipitous meeting with Yangyang led to marriage and in the professional realm he stumbled upon Bitcoin.

The Start of the Waves: Garage Coffee

"Without Garage Coffee, there would be no cryptocurrency field today."

After Chandler Guo and Jin Yangyang got married, the couple opened a successful Pingyao beef shop in Tmall. They even achieved the top sales in this category, which is a taste of the sweetness of Internet e-commerce. But he was unwilling to be ordinary and ready to move again. He told his wife that he wanted to go to Beijing. At that time, they already had two children. Yangyang agreed.

After arriving in Beijing, Yangyang accidentally found the Garage Cafe. This is a magical place where all kinds of novel entrepreneurial ideas were born. A cup of coffee, a computer, and a lot of information for you to listen to. Li Xiaolai, a famous New Oriental teacher at that time, held a bitcoin sharing meeting in this cafe. Perhaps Yangyang was attracted by the teacher's humorous speech and personal charm. She bought 100,000 yuan worth of Bitcoin at a price of 500 yuan per coin.

Later, when the price of the cryptocurrency rose to 1000 yuan, Chandler Guo realized that there was a strong money-making opportunity in cryptocurrency.

Under Yangyang’s recommendation, Chandler Guo met Li Xiaolai, and it spurred his interest in Bitcoin. Guo quit his job as a beef dealer and began to devote himself to studying Bitcoin. He even rented a house opposite the cafe so as not to waste any opportunity to share and communicate.

A Couple Work Together To Be The Earliest Bitcoin Self-media In China

In 2013, Guo Hongcai and Jin Yangyang co-founded China's earliest Bitcoin self-media "Yangyang Interview", interviewing many influentials in the Bitcoin field. At that time, there was no elaborate video editing, and many videos were posted online without editing.

Later, "Yangyang Interview" set up the column "Chandler Guo Teaches You How to Use Bitcoin", the main content was to

teaching people Bitcoin basics like opening a wallet or understanding blockchain and his reputation gradually spread.

Build A Bitcoin Mining Farm

Chandler Guo bet almost all his fortune on Bitcoin. Not only did he borrow money from friends, he also took out a mortgage on his father's house. However, from 2014 to 2016, the Bitcoin market was in a state of sluggishness, and Guo was deeply involved.

Hearing that mining farms could make money, he went to Inner Mongolia in 2014 and built the world's largest Bitcoin mining farm, which was said to cost 500,000 yuan in electricity every day.

Later, the cost of mining became higher and higher, and the price of Bitcoin continued to fall. Guo felt that this would not work. He sold the Bitcoin mining farm and started a "preaching" journey with Bitcoin.

Be A Social Influencer, Promoting Bitcoin

To let more people know and invest in Bitcoin, Chandler Guo began to give promotional speeches in China and the United States. His speech style is down to earth and incendiary. According to his own words: "Make great efforts to build momentum and talk about how uneducated I am. This is the logic of my making money." Soon he became an internet celebrity in the cryptocurrency field.

In 2016, Chandler Guo was invited to attend the Davos Forum. He wore a white T-shirt, shorts and sandals surrounded by elites in suits and leather shoes.  "In the future, people will no longer trust gold, cash, dollars. People will believe in blockchain technology," he said during his speech. His straightforward and bold speaking style made him the focus of the scene. After that, he became very popular.

Get Rich By Doing Product Endorsements

In order to attract investment, many token projects need to find celebrities to endorse their products. Chandler Guo is a perfect choice. He is also very frank, saying that he only charges 1% endorsement fees without investing in products, and he makes decisions entirely by instinct. Many investors regard him as a grassroots idol. As long as a project is endorsed by him, it will be a big hit.

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 100 projects endorsed by Chandler Guo, such as Stellar, Fcoin and BTM. They all have one common feature: plummet after they were launched.

A Weibo netizen once revealed that Chandler Guo earned 200 million yuan through ICO endorsement.

"Huangpu Military Academy" In The Crypto Field

In August 2017, to support grassroots entrepreneurs, Chandler Guo set up a non-governmental organization in Guangzhou: "Huangpu Military Academy" in the crypto field. The first phase attracted more than 20 ICO projects, but the quality of them are uneven, so many investors do not buy it.

With his bottomless endorsements, especially the infamous "ColdLar" incident, his reputation in the cryptocurrency field is mixed.

But in any case, 2017 was a historic year for Bitcoin, with an annual increase of 1700%. For Chandler Guo who is all in Bitcoin, he has achieved financial freedom.

"Leek Manor"

Chandler Guo believes that Silicon Valley is the real crypto valley, and the general trend in the future is that 80% of people in the crypto field will move to Silicon Valley.

In early 2018, he and his family moved to Silicon Valley in the United States. In an interview, he made no secret of saying that the 10,000-square-meter mansion was bought with 500 bitcoins, and two Rolls Royce spent 160 bitcoins. Soon, he got the US green card, found a piece of land in the mansion to grow leeks, and named the mansion "Leek Manor".

Chandler Guo said that up to now, there is no base for the crypto field. Leek Manor is a place where people in the crypto field can come whenever they want.

His American life revolves around growing vegetables, making wine, keeping bees, holding parties and spending time with his children. But he has not been idle, continuing to promote Bitcoin, interviews, live broadcasts, and endorse various ICO projects.

Guo also wondered why people are interested in everything he did, even his "eating broadcast" attracted 1 million people to watch.

Many Americans also come to him for cooperation. After all, China is a big market. If there is a Chinese community, why not do it?

He recently posted that he had sold his two Rolls Royce and replaced them with bitcoin. He is sure that Bitcoin will rise to $100,000 in 10 years, and then he will exchange for Rolls Royce.

Will Bitcoin rise to $100,000 in 10 years? Guo said, "Be a Puff Daddy, what if it comes true!"
