The assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, Makan Delrahim, praised blockchain's ability to improve competition within various industries in a recently published speech.

He went on to say that antitrust laws should protect blockchain which he believes has the power to offer consumers and businesses lower cost and higher value options.

Delrahim said the agency would continue to look into blockchain implementations and how they affect different markets. The agency will also work to prevent private blockchains from being used to fence off market infrastructure from competitors.
