A new blockchain-based app, ICC AOKpass, is aiming to streamline the process of travelling during the pandemic, as reported by CIR Magazine.

The app allows travelers to instantly verify their COVID-19 status using a global standard which can be used anywhere in the world. The app can also adapt to any region in the world to notify users of their compliance status at any time and in any place.

Singapore-based firm Energy Drilling and International SOS have both tested the app by selecting crew members set to travel to a remote oil drilling platform. Before departure the crew members took a COVID-19 and had the results stored on the app. They then used the platform to travel through the Thailand airport.

The successful trial was a positive step for the project leads who hope to continue expanding operations. Blockchain companies have quickly begun to look at how the technology can assist with securely sharing medical data, specifically test results, during the pandemic.
