Three Russian cryptocurrency addresses have been added to The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Asset Control's (OFAC) sanctions list on allegations of election interference, according to a recent release.

Artem Lifshits, Anton Andreyev and Darya Aslanova are employees of Russian company Internet Research Agency (IRA) which is known for trying to influence global events. The company attempted to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections and the OFAC is arguing that work continued into the present.

The release stated that the IRA used cryptocurrency to fund efforts to illegally interfere in global affairs. A second release announced sanctions on 23 crypto addresses meaning U.S. citizens cannot send or receive from these wallets without facing criminal charges.
