Yoshihide Suga, President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP), was elected Japan's 99th prime minister in the interim parliament Tuesday afternoon, and the new cabinet will be formed on the same day, according to the People's Daily Online. Kyodo news agency said it was the first time a Japanese prime minister had changed hands in seven years and eight months.
