U.S. Department of The Treasury today announced that the department has imposed sanctions on two Russian nationals who are accused of stealing $16.8 million from customers of three unnamed cryptocurrency exchanges, including two in the United States. 

According to the press release, Danil Potekhin and Dmitrii Karasavidi used fake websites that mimic legitimate transaction portals to imitate transactions to obtain customer login information, these information were illegally used to access customer accounts and steal their cryptocurrency.
