Abkhazia, an autonomous region in northwest Georgia, has decided to step up the works on trying to identify illegal cryptocurrency mining farms in the region.

According to a news release published on the Cabinet of Ministers’ website on Dec. 12, Abkhazia’s Prime Minister Valeri Bganba is committed to the current state of the region’s electrical grids. The region's electrical networks have been aggravated by the increasing emergence of illegal cryptocurrency mining farms, as indicators have ostensibly exceeded the 40 Mwatt mark. Bganba told meeting participants to intensify the works on the identification of cryptocurrency mining farms in the region.
