Samsung SDS will begin testing a blockchain-based distribution system to handle the dispersal of pharmaceutical drugs, as reported by local news outlet Yakup

The project offers an IoT-linked temperature history tracking service and automatic history management of the drugs. The history management portion will verify returns and collections and secure sales.

Samsung SDS officers have stated that several South Korean pharmaceutical firms, distributors and  medical institutions have applied to participate in the pilot. 

The healthcare industry is one realm where blockchain is expected to grow tremendously in coming years with 55% of healthcare solutions expected to adopt blockchain for commercial purposes, senior researcher at Samsung SDS, Lee Eun-young, said in a statement.
