Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran, has proposed the development of a Muslim cryptocurrency to battle “economic hegemony” of the United States.

During the Islamic conference in Malaysia on Dec. 19, Rouhani called for Muslim nations to cut their reliance on the U.S. dollar, according to the Associated Press (AP). Rouhani claimed that the U.S. uses the dollar as a tool of "domineering hegemony and bullying.”
