Penn State University will begin operating as a signing node for GoChain's proof-of-reputation blockchain, according to a recent announcement.

The blockchain is a fork of Ethereum's code and is secured by entities like Penn State running their own nodes. The consensus mechanism of the chain works by calling on each of these nodes to help run the network. The blockchain hopes one day to run with 50 signing nodes.

GoChain highlights that it is 100% compatible with Ethereum allowing users to take advantage of the increased scalability and lower fees without losing touch with its parent network.
