Iberpay, Spain’s national payments network, has run a Proof of Concept (PoC) for blockchain-based smart payments with five Spanish banks,

Iberpay ran the PoC with Banco Sabadell, Santander, Bankia, BBVA and CaixaBank. The goal of this project is to allow the scheduling of automatic payments which could be prompted by a smart contract based on a certain event like the delivery of merchandise. The project which started in October will also allow for better efficiency, traceability and integrity for payments.
