Avi Reichental, the founder of XponentialWorks and chairman & CEO of Nexa3D wrote in an article that he believes blockchain can end food inefficiency and solve the worlds hunger problem.

Reichental cited a paper that a 95% of the research into stopping the hunger problem has gone into raising productivity instead of stopping the loss of food. Through the use of supply-demand algorithms based on consumer behavior and agricultural science to data drawn from advanced sensor technology will enable the industry to predict and preempt the freshness of harvest all the way down the line.

This new system would make it harder to create and hide freshness manipulations. The demand side would also be able to eliminate inefficiencies in the supply chain.
