Canadian mobile app Shakepay has just launched a peer-to-peer payments feature, according to Decrypt. Hoping to compensate for Canada's lack of a Venmo or Cash App equivalent and for the limits of Canada's Interac e-Transfer system, Shakepay's new peer-to-peer capabilities will allow users to make quick, irreversible mobile transactions using only a phone number or username.
While the new peer-to-peer feature will allow for payments only of fiat currency, Shakepay is known for its compatibility with Bitcoin and Ethereum and will maintain both its crypto-friendly features and its interest in crypto.
