Approximately 100 Italian banks (including 18 of Italy's largest banks) are now members of the private interbank reconciliation system Spunta after 42 more banks recently joined, according to The Block. The system, which launched in March of this year and runs on R3's permissioned blockchain Corda, ensures transaction security by matching correspondent accounts and allowing users to see their transaction history.

Spunta's increasing number of enrolled banks has brought with it over 200 million transactions since the system's launch, with an expected record of 350 million transactions by the end of 2020.
