The Trump Administration's National Security Council has named distributed ledger technology as a key innovation for maintaining the United States' technological supremacy over China and Russia.
In a report titled "National Strategy for Critical and Emerging Technologies" the NSC called for investing in and promoting the named technologies, including distributed ledgers. Artificial intelligence, data science, quantum computing and space technologies also made their way onto the list.
China has so far led the global blockchain charge making bold steps developing a digital yuan and launching a national Blockchain Services Network.
