Perpetual Protocol, a decentralized trading protocol for perpetual contracts, has announced its decision to incorporate xDai, a staking token, into its system. The protocol hopes that the token's addition as a DeFi initiative will improve scalability and reduce gas prices on Ethereum. xDai in particular was selected because of its ERC-20 bridge, use of the programming language Solidity, and compatibility with Metamask.

The protocol will launch xDai on the Ethereum mainnet but notes that migration of the system to layer 2 and other blockchains will be possible if desired.
