French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire issued more criticisms of cryptocurrencies while acknowledging the benefits of blockchain in a recent tweet.

Le Maire stated that he does not doubt the reliability and traceability of blockchain, but that cryptocurrencies can be used to facilitate illicit transactions including for drugs, weapons or money laundering.

Le Maire was responding to a tweet from Cyril Paglino, a general partner in crypto fund Starchain Capital, who was arguing that blockchain transactions had no interest in terrorists in reference to a recent FinCEN leak showing that many banks are enabling money laundering.
