Facebook stated on Monday that it will ban deepfakes from its platform, according to a blog post from a company executive.

Monika Bickert, Head of Global Policy Management at Facebook, stated in the post that Facebook would remove videos altered by artificial intelligence in ways that “would likely mislead someone into thinking that a subject of the video said words that they did not actually say.” However, the new policy will not apply to parody, satire or videos edited to alter the order of words.
