According to a report from the University of Vienna, with the increasing adoption of Bitcoin, the demand for scalability solutions is also increasing. 

The Lightning Network is currently one of the most important L2 solutions for the Bitcoin blockchain. 45% of the Lightning Network nodes run in North America, most of which are in the United States, follwing Europe with 43.1% of the global nodes. The remaining nodes are distributed in Asia (6.2%), Oceania (2.2%), South America(0.8%) and Africa(0.6%).
