Canadian blockchain infrastructure Figment has raised $2.5 million in a recent funding round, according to Decrypt. The round was orchestrated by venture capital firm Bonfire Ventures and aims to further Figment's Web 3 development. The development will grow Figment's current team of 26 employees and expand the company's blockchain beyond its current 30 protocols. Some of this expansion will include development of nine new blockchains on Figment's Hubble Web 3 Explorer and seven blockchains on the company's new platform DataHub.

Figment's ultimate goal is to create opportunities for users to control and profit from their own data without third party intervention from governments and large corporations with monopolies on data.
