Mark Cheng, a Singaporean cryptocurrency consultant, was kidnapped in Thailand and tortured for a $740,000 ransom in Bitcoin (BTC), According to a report from the South China Morning Post on Jan. 14.

After being forced to transfer all $46,000 of his available funds, Cheng was reportedly able to escape as his captors prepared to murder him. The consultant was reportedly on a business trip with his associate Kim Lee Yao when they were grabbed by a group of masked men who forced them into a nearby truck. 

Cheng has accused Thai actor Chano Pemberger as being the owner of the truck in which he was transported.
