In response to the company’s alleged violation of the United States securities law, by conducting a $1.7 billion Gram token sale back in 2018, the CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, gave out an 18 hour deposition.
The deposition was held around January 7 and 8 before a court reporting service by the plaintiff represented by the United States’ Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC used the deposition to continue to inquire Telegram on how it spent the money. According to the deposition transcript, Durov financed Telegram from his own expenditure from the sale of VKontakte around 2014.
