The new deposit contract for Ethereum 2.0 is growing with 31,557 ETH as of writing, data from Etherscan shows.
Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin contributed 3,200 ETH worth roughly $1.3 million. Buterin stated in an interview with The Block that he expects the staking contract will continue to attract people as stakers become more comfortable with the cold storage and begin to trust the product.
The contract needs to reach 524,288 ETH by the projected launch date of December 1, Buterin expressed confidence the threshold would be met but added that there are not a lot of precedents.
