As reported by Forbes, a former Microsoft engineer, Volodymyr Kvashuk, was sentenced today for nine years for defrauding Microsoft for more than $10 million, using a bitcoin mixer to hide taxable income and filing fraudulent tax returns. This is the nation’s first Bitcoin case that has a tax component to it according to the IRS. Volodymyr Kvashuk was arrested in July 2019 for allegedly participating in the theft of US$10 million in digital currency.
